Miss Reeve’s Recipe says:
3/4 gill milk 3 oz flour 1 egg Salt Blend flour and milk Stir in the egg and season Rub through a ? sieve into smoking fat. Fry until crips and brown. Drain and serve separately.
What is a gill? It is a quarter of a pint. What type of sieve? I think the sieve is a wire one.
I shall make these the next time I make soup.
